WELCOME

The Freedom Letter, 40 Days to Freedom, and The Man in the Desert are publications of Freedom Ministries, Inc., a Florida not-for-profit corporation (#N94000005074). Providing insight and God-given procedure for freeing the human spirit from all that would enslave is the focus of all our publications.  Tom Lomas, the author,  was told by his Creator to "follow the example of Jesus' forty days in the desert" in answer to a desperate prayer when on the brink of a second suicide attempt.

Tom’s addiction of almost forty years was classified by psychiatry as “masterful instinct.” During the forty day walk in the desert of his soul, he was spiritually reborn and set free. God then disclosed the reason he was given a procedure, instead of an instant healing, was for Tom to write 40 Days to Freedom so souls in bondage, all over the world, would experience this same, glorious, God-given freedom and rebirth.

This issue of the Freedom Letter shares only a few of the many healing testimonies received by Freedom Ministries, Inc. since early 1995 when 40 Days to Freedom was first distributed. Our miracle book has been given freely to souls in need in 25 countries, 49 states, all US territories, including individuals, 135 prisons and jails, and 192 prison and recovery ministries.  This does not include distribution through our web site as a free download since 1996.  40 Days to Freedom has been out-of-print since early 1999; and we are hopeful of a third printing by late 2000 or early 2001 as God's provision is now in process.  If you wish to be a part of that process, see "Contact Us." MIRACLES SHARED

From a recovering addict in Oregon...... Tom... I can't thank you enough for your encouraging words and prayer.  I believe we are here for a reason.  I believe as each day unfolds, we see less of the shadow and more of the sun, less of the tarnish and more of the gold.  Life has been tough for me lately; but I know Jesus Christ will get me through it all.  Your book 40 Days to Freedom has given me a great deal of insight and hope.

From a volunteer worker in Leesburg, Florida........ I'm writing as a request for you to come and speak at First Baptist Church Leesburg Men's Mission.  This facility is a 13 week, in-house, drug and alcohol and like problems program.  We also have a program for men just trying to get back on their feet again.  We house and feed 24 men.  I was in Marion County Jail in the summer of 1998 when you came and spoke to us.  I was forever inspired by that day.  At the mission we read 40 Days to Freedom each day at lunch time; and it's an inspiration to us all.

My daughter is in a long term treatment program and I feel this would help so much.  (After suggesting she download a free copy) .....  I printed this off and sent it to Darla. It is the best little book I have ever read. It is worth the half ink cartridge, to print it off, or you can read it on line.  But DO READ IT, as everyone needs this. Love you.

I have been suffering with drug addictions for 2/3 of my life. I have given my life to Jesus on at least three occasions in the past 10 yrs. I think the biggest problem has been that the people closest to me are still involved in their own addictions to drugs. These gals I speak of are as sick of this life style as I am. From somewhere on the Internet........ I just came across your website today. I was very excited to have found your site as my husband has been struggling with alcoholism for many years. He has been through recovery programs, one of which was Christian based and still he falls back into the temptations that continue to plague him. I was very hopefully after reading the many testimonies recorded on this site and thought finally, this could be the answer for my husband too. (Response)....... Thank you for your quick reply. I do not question the healing method in "40 Days" what so ever. In fact I believe that it is an answer for my husband and others like him who have struggled to overcome addictions unsuccessfully. NEW BOOK PUBLISHED

The Man in the Desert - Diary of a Freed Addict is published and available through our co-publisher, 1stBooks Library (www.1stBooks.com) on the Internet. It will be available at bookstores either through POD (print-on-demand) machines or by order from Ingram's Distributors in early April coinciding with the start of Freedom Journey 2000.

Spiritual and personal freedom from all that attempts to enslave us is again the theme as is true with all the publications of Freedom Ministries, Inc. In addition, The Man in the Desert includes my personal and spiritual autobiography which was not included in our first book. As since disclosed to me, this was God’s plan that I experience nine years of His tutelage of my soul, after its rebirth through His Holy Spirit, before sharing my full autobiography in print.

As orchestrated by the Father, the proceeds from the new book will be used to pay for additional printing and free distribution of 40 Days to Freedom; therefore, all author royalties will be donated directly to Freedom Ministries.

By the grace of God, I receive no ministry salary. Since freeing me from self-dependence to God-dependence in early ‘98, God has adequately provided for me materially as well as mentally and spiritually; and I have indeed come to understand what St. Paul characterized in 2 Cor 6:10, “we seem to have nothing, yet really we possess everything.” The spiritual provisions  and knowledge from the Lord have been especially bountiful!

I am thankful to the Father for making this new work available to His children, which we all on this earth are, before the birth of the new millennium on January 1, 2001. Its powerful message has the potential to do much to bring sanity and hope and freedom from all fears to our beleaguered, materialistic world. FREEDOM JOURNEY 2000

In November 1999, while enjoying a typical early morning bicycle ride, God revealed that He wanted me to embark on a 5,000 mile bicycle ride from Orlando, Florida to Seattle, Washington to publicize our new book, The Man in the Desert.  I was reluctant to leave my family including my 98 year old mother, bed-ridden in a nursing home, who was used to seeing me every day and my cat, Ucf, who has been my housemate for 12 years.  These in addition to my four children and three grandchildren who all reside in the Orlando area.  I rationalized that this message was not from God; but I felt a nagging persistence that He had prepared me for exactly such an undertaking.

I decided to conduct a test trip of 100 miles with my bike loaded as for the cross-country journey. I would trust Him to confirm whether this revelation was from Him.  In addition to other confirmations, He orchestrated three ministry opportunities, one possibly life-saving, during the 100 miles.  I recalled Old and New Testament references to willingness to leave family and other ties to follow God's will so I made the commitment.  A close friend has agreed to care for Ucf; and my Mother passed into the spirit world on December 10th with her and my knowing, as orchestrated by the Father, that she would be with me for the journey we have named Freedom Journey 2000 (FJ2K).  

I have been often asked how I will return to Orlando from Seattle.  I can only respond that God has not revealed that part to me yet; but I can trust that He will provide the answer in His time.  He has however expanded the trip to include Turin, Italy for the exhibit of the burial shroud of Jesus scheduled for late August to late October and to Belfast, Ireland for the annual conference of the World Community for Christian Meditation.  

While bicycling through Europe, as well as the USA, I will be sharing information about God's healing for all addictions and obsessions, through our ministry and publications, with individuals, churches, bookstores, and libraries.  Indeed, just this same day as this writing, I was reminded of the publicized bondage to anger and alcohol in Ireland.  

There are still many unanswered questions about FJ2K which God will reveal in His time.  We can always trust, when He asks us to step out in faith, that He has only our best interests at heart.  Your prayers for the spreading of God's love and truth on this ordained journey will be welcomed and appreciated.  I will continue to publish the Freedom Letter while on FJ2K which will include trip reports.  Publication will only be on this site with notice by e-mail; therefore, if you wish to be kept informed of our adventure for the Lord, send your e-mail address to freedom918@aol.com unless we already have it.  As previously stated, we authorize and encourage all readers to print and freely distribute this newsletter. 

During this trip, our third book will be composed with a very gracious ministry board member serving as editor. Consistent with our other publications it will provide an open door to the only source of freedom for the human soul which is the divine love of the Father received through His Holy Spirit and taught by Jesus the Messiah sent by God.

OTHER MINISTRY BUSINESS

I have been very involved with Kairos Prison Ministry at three institutions and the new faith-based dormitory at Tomoka C.I., Daytona Beach.  My plan is to return to these endeavors after FJ2K.  Since I received no response to our last newsletter from chaplains or prison ministers, I assume prison ministry will play little or no role in FJ2K unless orchestrated by God while on the journey.

God has reminded me of the Freedom Retreat Center given in a revelation a year ago after He led me to the property where it is to be constructed.  The purpose of the center will be to train Freedom Messengers to go into the world to spread God's truth and freedom.  The one prerequisite will be the completion of the forty day spiritual journey in the desert of the candidate's soul and the resulting desire to share the newly won freedom with others.  The center will also be my home for the remainder of my earth life.  Whether I am to have another physical home after the completion of FJ2K and before the construction (simple log structures on wooded property) of the Freedom Retreat Center or I am to continue traveling as a Freedom Messenger has not yet been revealed.

The newest project of Freedom Ministries, Inc. is equal to the previous in excitement and importance and is the first project which God is orchestrating through members other than the founder.  Bill Taylor and Tom Willoughby are co-chairing our establishment of an after-care facility for prisoners in the Daytona Beach area.  Our program for reintegrating outmates back into society will be based on God's freedom training in 40 Days to Freedom.  God has given Bill a vision of such after-care facilities spreading throughout our country.  My hope is that this project can be expanded to include in addition to ex-convicts other disenfranchised members of society.

In closing I will simply add that God has recently impressed on this born again servant that in this world in its third millennium no earthbound soul should go without spiritual or physical nourishment or adequate clothing or shelter.  As the Information Age is exploding so is our ability to know and love and care for each other.  After all, this is the purpose for which we were all born to human flesh above all in the words of our Savior to "love one another."  The love of which he spoke which is the love of his Father and our Father is unselfish, giving, joyful, obedient love.  Then we experience the great mystery referenced by St. Francis in his magnificent prayer; for, though we give without thought of gain, by such giving we receive more than we can ever possibly dream or hope for.

May our awesome, all-loving Father grant that all souls on earth will receive the "eyes of Jesus," to see the truth and be set free and fulfill the prophesy of St. Paul.  Amen.
